Upcycling: Ugly Pants to Pin Cushion

This peony motif was excised from a pair of ugly, ill-fitting $2 thrift store capri pants.  The fabric is linen, and I really liked the color and print.  It just didn't make for an attractive pair of pants.

So, I embellished the peony with some stitching and beading, stuffed it with batting and a little lavender sachet, and voila'! A lovely little lavender scented pin cushion. Say that three times fast ;)

Perfect!! I'm stitching again and realized a need to make a new cushion and a needlebook!

Great way to recycle.

Hi Starr, what a lovely way to use some pretty fabric, I hate throwing away anything that has the slightest chance of re- cycling. My cupboards are full of bits and pieces waiting for their turn!

such a good use of trousers you no longer want, very pretty and no I could not say it three times, did not manage twice without getting tongue tied!

Well done - what a great idea. You'd would never guess looking at it that the pincushion used to be a pair of pants!!

Oh gosh, I can't imagine wearing that peony on my pants! But it does make for a lovely pin-keep. You can never have too many pincushions.
