Ghostly Beauties

Aren't they beautiful?!  How fitting that these ghostly colored beauties popped up on my trail this month.  Very fitting for the month of October, yes?  Notice how the mushrooms are the same color as the piece of firewood they appear to be sprouting from.  And also how their caps seem to have the same striations that are in the wood. I wonder if that is just a wild coincidence? Anyway, I just love them!  They make me think of a beautiful french gown like the one Audrey Hepburn wore in My Fair Lady.  Or perhaps a ballerina's tutu.  They're so delicate, so ethereal, so ghostly.  Happy haunting everyone ;)

Pretty little shrooms. Those have an interesting texture on their caps!

margaret, indeed i do not lack for inspiration - only the skill and imagination to honor it.

Emily, I wish you could have seen them in person. The photos really don't do them justice. The tops of the caps almost looked like suede, the undersides like the most delicate lace. Just incredible!
